At the time of his death he was editor of the Ga?'deners' Magazine. He had filled this position for thirty years and raised the magazine to its present state of excellence. Mr. Hibberd was born at Stepney, England, in 1825. He was intended for a bookseller, but early turned his attention to literary work, in which he continued uninterruptedly until his death. He wrote upon a great variety of subjects, some of them historical. He was one of the most accomplished men who ever adorned horticultural professions, and his ex- ample must always remain an inspiration.
