400-year-old paintings of Spreuer Bridge over the Reuss River, oldest bridge of Lucerne, Switzerland, built in 1407.

The Spreuer Bridge over the Reuss River, built in 1407 and reconstructed in 1566, is now the oldest bridge in Lucerne, Switzerland. It is roofed and decorated with some 56 paintings, scenes from the Dance of Death, dating from the early 17th century. It is also called the Mill bridge. The paintings can be viewed while walking through the covered bridge. Lucerne is crossed by seven bridges and has one of the most picturesque settings in Switzerland.
