Editorial use only. German steam train from Der Harzer Schmalspurbahnen heading towards Harzgerode from Alexisbad in the Harz Mountains. Metre gauge system covers around 140 Km of track through the Harz Mountain region From Wernigerode in the north to Gernrode and Nordhausen with a branch to Brocken. The first section was opened in 1887 and the railway was taken over by Harzer Schmalspurbahnen GMBH in 1991 to run primarily tourist trains on the network.
