Tyrannosaurus rex caudal bones. Fossilised Tyrannosaurus rex (T-rex) caudal bones (tail bones). These bones have metal links attached to them which are used when assembling the entire skeleton. These bones are part of a near complete T-rex skeleton being refurbished at Phil Fraley Productions, USA, a company specialising in the renovating and re-building of fossil skeletons for museum displays. To create an exhibit, a skeleton is taken apart and re-assembled onto a new metal support armature. The skeleton can then be posed in a more life-like posture. The original exhibit was mounted over 100 years ago at the Carnegie Museum of Natural History in a posture that is now thought to be incorrect. Photographed in 2007.
