Isleham weir on the River Lark Cambridgeshire fens

The 19th Baptist preacher Charles Spurgeon was baptised in the River Lark just upstream of Isleham and baptisms continued there for some years and then here at Isleham weir until 1970 when the practice was ceased because stagnant water meant that those baptised emerged from the water more malodorous than they entered it.
