Small southern porch on Gothic wooden church at Dębno Podhalańskie, Poland, and western tower with projecting bell chamber, typical of the area.

Dębno Podhalańskie, Nowy Targ, Lesser Poland, Poland: small porch on southern side of Gothic wooden church of St Michael the Archangel, built in the late 1400s of larch logs and fir timbers secured by wooden dowels and without the use of nails. The church’s steep roof and outside walls are shingled. The tower, at the church’s western end, was added in 1601. Topped by a pyramidal cupola, it has an overhanging storey creating a bell chamber, typical of the region. The church was awarded World Heritage site status in 2003 as one of the UNESCO Wooden Churches of Southern Lesser Poland.
