View NNE of the entrance grave in the outer platform of Ballowall Barrow, Cornwall, England, UK, a complex Bronze Age round cairn containing 7 burial cists. The central rubble mound was retained by two concentric drystone walls & stood proud of the surrounding stone platform. Pottery & burnt bones were found in some of the cists & a layer of ashes & charred wood surrounded the central mound. It is uncertain whether the entrance grave was a free-standing Neolithic structure incorported into the outer platform or a late feature in the complicated Bronze Age building sequence. Burnt human bones & fragments of pottery were found under the paved floor of the entrance grave. The site was poorly excavated & confusingly reconstructed by Cornish antiquarian W. C. Borlase in 1878-80.
