Myrrh is the dried sap of the tree Commiphora myrrha, native to Somalia and eastern Ethiopia. According to Chinese medicine experts it can affect the heart, liver and spleen meridians and is most commonly used for rheumatic, arthritic and circulatory problems. In the west, Myrrh is used as an antiseptic in mouthwashes, gargles and toothpastes for prevention and treatment of gum disease and also in some liniments and healing salves to treat abrasions and other minor skin ailments.
