This variety originated in the town of Danvers, Mass., in which vicinity the raising of carrots is made a special business, 20 to 30 tons per acre being no unusual crop. In form it is midway between the Long Orange and Short Horn. The root is of a rich, dark orange color, and grows very smooth and handsome. It is a first-class carrot for all soils. It is claimed by the Danvers growers that this new carrot will yield the greatest bulk with the smallest length of root of any now grown. The specimens sent to us in competition for our cash prizes were of large size and wonderfully perfect shape—skin smooth as an apple. Per pkt. 5 cts.; oz. 10 cts. ; 3^ ft) 25 cts. ; per fi) 90 cts.
