The obverse of the medal depicts a Roman soldier defending the ruins. Above him is ANYTHING TRUE PAL. Under the soldier is ANTWERP DECEMBER MDCCCXXXII. Signed to the right of this. The reverse has the inscription J. VAN LEEUWEN within an oak wreath. The medal hangs from an orange ribbon of ribbed silk. Donated by the city of Amsterdam after the surrender of the citadel and the return of prisoners
