In the Rue de la Main de Fer, rising magnificentlyabove its narrow space, there is the old Gothic house of theUnion. One can see at a glance that it was once a greathouse, from its rich windows and its superb doorway of cutstone. It was built for a rich citizen of Perpignan in thelate style of the sixteenth century, and must have presenteda very animated scene when, having passed into the handsof the Llupias, it was occupied by the Queen-mother duringthe visit of Le Roi Soleil to Per
