Looking North in McMurdo Sound, c1910. By Edward Adrian Wilson (1872-1912). Wilson was one of the five men who made up Captain Robert Falcon Scott's (1868-1912) final South Pole Party. He and four other men attained the pole on 17th January 1912, where they found that a Norwegian team led by Roald Amundsen (1872-1928) had preceded them. Scott's party of five died on the return journey from the pole.
