An amphibious LVT (Landing Vehicle Tracked)/LVTP (Landing Vehicle, Tracked, Personnel) carrying Marines from the 7th Platoon of the special landing force of the USS MONTICELLO heads towards the beachhead during operation Beacon Hill 1. The operation took place south of the DMZ in northern Quang Tri Province, Vietnam, on March 21, 1970. Intelligence reports indicated the presence of a North Vietnamese Army Division and a contingent of Viet Cong in the area.
