Caption: Ganden, TAR, China - Jul 2001. Workers carry stone up to their work site at Ganden monastery in central Tibet. Sacked during China's Cultural Revolution, Ganden, which was once the centre for Tibetan politics, was largely destroyed. Much of the sprawling monastery has since been rebuilt, although it no longer maintains its essential role in scholary and political affairs.
