Damage caused by a 230-1b. bomb dropped during World War One is shown in the image. The bomb created a crater 10 feet in diameter and 5 feet deep, displacing 33 cubic yards of material. Two rails were broken, and 14 ties were destroyed. The second bomb created a larger crater, 22 feet in diameter and 9 feet deep, displacing 80 cubic yards of material. Both rails were broken, and 13 ties were destroyed. The photo was taken on October 19, 1918.
