These hotel colonies, together with the boarding houses, or pen-sions as the latter are called, form villages of themselves, something likeLake Placid or Saranac Lake. Closely around these villages stands the great forest which inducedthe hotel proprietors to locate there. In addition there are always finemountain views, waterfalls, interesting ruins of some old castle or cloister,and a desirable altitude.
