The entire sec- tion contains sexeral thousand laminations, a pair of dark and light laminae forming a "; The chemical analysis oi the rock, in percentages, is as follows: SiO^â; ,â; TiO,â; Fe,6,â; ; MnOâ; MgOâ; CaOâ ; â; K,0â; P,0,â; _H.,0â.; -fH:,O^.08; Organic mate- i-ialâ; CIâtraces; S, SO,â; CO,â ; NO,, B, Fâ The section contains \()lcanics, chiefK' basalt, ash. tutls, lapilli and bombs, indicating surroiniding centers of erui^tion. joints and minor faults abound ill (he scdiiiiciil. wliich is (hthiscd with liiiioiiitic led and black crusts rellecting diagenetic processes. The numerous fossil frogs are une(iually disliibuted throughout the deposit, \ icld- iiig on flic average some ten si)ecimens per cubic meter. The number ol frogs in the whole bed runs into the thousands, onl- iiumberiiig all other remains. In all, (S63 adult Irogs and one tadpole ha\c been col- lected, compared with 14 urodeles, two dinosaurian teeth, and plant remains. No other animal remains wcic found. W'hile the amphibian burial assemblage was in situ, as indicated by the complete articu- lated skeletons, this was not true for all plant species, some of which were second- aril\' accumulated in the deposit. Age of the innphihicm zone (Fig. 2). The Lower C'retaceous sequence unconform- abl\' o\erlies strata of Jurassic age (Nevo, 1955), and underlies those of Cenomanian age (Bentor and Vroman, 1951); for a list of Jurassic and C^'nomanian foss
