Beurre de VAssomption.—August. Chiefly valued forits earliness, but sometimes disappointing in Fig. 931.—Bush Pear. Beurre Fouqueray. Tree of moderate but rather irregular growth, best suitedfor the Quince as a bush pyramid or trained tree. Fruitlarge, pale-yellowish, rich and musky at its best, other-wise rather tasteless. Beurre Diel (fig. 930).—October-November. An excel-lent all-round Pear. Tree very strong, and prolific in allforms on the Quince ; well-adapted for walls in cold dis-tricts ; also fine as a standard in the warmer large, green or yellow with russet, melting, of aro-matic flavour. Largely imported from France under thename of Beurre Magnifique. Beurre Dumont. — October. A handsome Pear forgarden use or exhibition. Tree of moderate growth, bestsuited for the Quince stock either as pyramid, espalier, orcordon. Fruit large, round or obovate, greenish withrusset, melting, sweet and rich.
