Stories about S. Margaret, the Patron Saintof Childbirth, were very common during theMiddle Ages, but there is only one with whichwe shall have to deal here, and that is thestory of S. Margaret and the dragon. The legend goes that she was the daughterof a heathen priest at Antioch, but brought upin the country by a Christian nurse, whosesheep she used to tend.
