Foetal monitoring. Two transducers (round) strapped to a woman's abdomen in the early stages of childbirth. The transducers are linked to a cardiotocography (CTG) machine. One of the transducers measures the foetus' heartbeat and the other the uterine (womb) contractions. A CTG is used to identify signs of foetal distress during labour.
