It surpasses the com- mon variety in several respects. Its habit is better, foliage much hand- somer, flowers whiter, and more deli- cate. One of the most valuble flow ering shrubs. Spirea. Callosa Alba—A white flowering variety of dwarf habit; very fine ; remains in flower all summer. Goldex-Leayed (Foliis Aureis)—A beau- tiful dwarf plant, with golden-yellow foliage. Its keeps its color the entire season, and creates a very pleasing effect among other shrubs. * Pruxifolia floee plexo—A beautiful shrub from Japan, with double-white flowers in May. Reevesii, or Laxce-Leayed—A charming shrub, with narrow-pointed leaves, and large, round clusters of white flowers, that cover the whole plant. Double Laxced-Leayed—A beautiful double-flowering variety. One of the best. Thuxbergii (Thuxberg's Spiraea)—Of dwarf habit, and rounded, graceful form; branches slender and somewhat drooping ; foliage narrow and yellowish-green ; flowers small, white, appearing early in spring, being the first Spirea to flower. Esteemed on account of its neat, graceful habit. Forces well in winter. VAX" Houtte's (S. Van Houttei)—The most showy of all the Spireas, and one of the very best flowering shrubs in cultivation.
