Thomas Wakley (11 July 1795 – 16 May 1862), was an English surgeon. He became a demagogue and social reformer who campaigned against incompetence, privilege and nepotism. Thomas Hodgkin (17 August 1798 – 5 April 1866) was a British physician, a pioneer in preventive medicine. He is best known for the first account of Hodgkin's disease, a form of lymphoma and blood disease in 1832.
