Bayham Abbey, on the Kent and East Sussex border near Tunbridge Wells, a hidden gem, often missed by visitors to the area. The abbey was founded in the 13th century by Premonstratensian monks, white canons. Their order originated in northern France. The abbey suffered under Henry V111s dissolution. However it was given a new lease of life and partly repaired in the eighteenth century and landscaped to provide a romantic view for the residents of Bayham Old Abbey House. The partlyvrestiored house can be visited at the same time as the Abbey, both of which are in the care of English Heritage.
