5TH FLEET AREA OF OPERATIONS (Sept. 23, 2017) A Marine assigned to the amphibious assault ship USS America (LHA 6) climbs the pilot ladder aboard the amphibious dock landing ship USS Pearl Harbor (LSD 52) during a personnel transfer. Pearl Harbor is part of the America Amphibious Ready Group (ARG) and, with the embarked 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), is deployed in support of maritime security operations and theater security cooperation efforts in the 5th Fleet area of operations.
