Fareham, Hampshire, UK. 12th January 2016. A refuse lorry overturned at a major roundabout in Fareham today causing traffic chaos. Emergency Services were called to the Delme roundabout, near Wallington Way, Fareham at around after the accident. Fire Crews from Fareham and Cosham attended and freed the driver who was stuck in the cab by removing the windscreen of the Truck. Fareham Hampshire Tuesday 12th January 2016 A refuse lorry overturned at a major roundabout in Fareham today causing traffic chaos. Emergency Services were called to the Delme roundabout, near Wallington Way, Fareham at around after the accident. Fire Crews from Fareham and Cosham attended and freed the driver who was stuck in the cab by removing the windscreen of the Truck. The junction, which leads to the A27 and Portchester, was blocked as the driver had to be rescued by the fire service. The Road was closed for around three hours whilst recovery and a clean up operation took place. A lamp post was crushed by the lorry. The driver who’s from Gosport speaking at the scene said “It all went into slow motion there was nothing that I could do I went around the bend and the wheel of the truck gave way as I went around the corner . It was very scary. I have been driving these lorries for over 25 years. The load of housing rubbish was destin for Aldershot. Clean-up crews from Fareham Borough Council are now on the scene working with the owners helping clear the debris. No other vehicles where involved and the driver suffered minor injuries to his shoulder. ©UKNIP
