London England. Squatters evicted from Oxted Court on the Holmleigh Estate in Hackney East London. 26 April 1991. Hackney Council used legislation using section 7 of the 1977 Criminal Law Act allowing them to forcibly evict squatters from properties many had occupied for more than three years saying that new tenants were to take over the once derelict properties that the squatters had ‘done up’ and made habitable. At dawn Police and Council workers with tools to cut bolts arrived to evict 19 famalies from their homes. Seen here: Anne-Marie and her daughter who lost their home.
