The High Court of Israel ruled in 2006 that Amona is illegal and it is scheduled for court ordered removal by a February 8 deadline. As a lesson from lost legal battle for Amona, Netanyahu's right wing coalition government is struggling to pass into law a controversial bill that would legalize some 4,000 housing units in the West Bank built on privately owned Palestinian land. This 'Regulation Bill' was put on ice in December 2016 until US Pres. Trump entered the White House.
