Hodgkins dis-ease and lymphosarcomas are extremelyradio-sensitive and enlarged spleensshrink to normal size under radium andx-ray influence. The changes in cancer cells werestudied by Handley of Bonn 1. Hecompared the microscopic sections of acarcinoma that had been rayed forthree weeks with those of the same tu-mor which had not been rayed. In therayed specimen small groups of carci-noma cells were surrounded by con-nective tissue. The individual cell waslarger and flat and on account of thelarge amount of protoplasm in each cell, the entire specimen seemed much large magnification it seemed edema-tous and did not take the stain verydeeply so that the finer structures ofthe cell were not clear while a numberof other cells were full of vacuoles andstained faintly. Even the protoplasmvaried in its intensity of staining, onecel
