Galleries arc provided along the front andtop of the boilers. Coal and Ash Plant.—The conveyor is Messrs. Babcock& Wilcoxs Standard Silent Gravity Bucket Conveyor andhandles both coal and ashes. The capacity for coal is ten. Blinkers, Fan Engines, Water Purifier and Piping tons per hour and the coal is automatically dumped intobunkers above the boilers of 300 tons capacity—from thesebunkers it feeds by gravity into the stoker hoppers. Thecoal as received from the mine is hist dumped into anelectrically driven coal crusher which feeds the electrical-ly driven conveyor automatically. The same conveyorhandles the ashes when not delivering coal, the ashes be-ing emptied into the conveyor buckets from the ash pitand chute by means of an automatic filler which exactlyfills each bucket without spilling; the ashes are then con-veyed into an elevated hopper placed over the tramwaytrack from the mine and carried away to the dump in thesame cars that deliver the coal. .\ trench 6 feet square runsthe whole length of the boiler battery and gives facilityof access to the ash handling plant.
