Syrian Muslims celebrate Laylat al-Qadr or “Night of Power” on the 27th day of Ramadan in the Great Mosque of the Syrian northern town of Ma'arat al-Nu'man. The Great Mosque in Ma'arat al-Numan is a 12th century Ayyubidi mosque, and Laylat al-Qadr is an important date in the Islamic faith as it marks the night during which the Holy Qur'an was first revealed to the Prophet Muhammad. Ma'arat al-Numaan is a town in northwestern Syria which is located in the Idlib governorate
