Lichfield has the only medieval English Gothic cathedral with three spires, Staffordshire, England. Built between 1195–1340, the cathedral suffered severe damage during the English Civil War in which all of the stained glass was destroyed although he windows of the Lady Chapel contain some of the finest medieval Flemish painted glass in existence. The Lichfield Gospels, also known as the Book of Chad, are the gospels of Matthew and Mark, and the early part of Luke, written mainly in Latin with some text in early Welsh and dating from around 730
