New Combination Welding Outfit A novelty in oxy-acetylene welding and cutting out-fits has recently been brought out, the change-over fromthe welding equipment to the cutting equipment beingeasily effected by the addition of a simple attachmentwhich diverts a certain part of the oxygen supply at thehose connection and introduces it as excess oxygen be-hind the oxy-acetylene flame. By means of specially designed regulators correctmixing of the gases is assured, and the accurate controlof the supply effects a very great saving in gas con-sumption. At the same time there is provided a long,white, incandescent welding flame that is entirely freefrom carbons and oxides. It welds anything in anymetal. The cutting attachment has a multi-jet tip andis able to cut iron and steel up to 4 in. in thickness, arecent accomplishment being a cut 19 ft. 6 in. longthrough %-ih. boiler plate in twenty minutes. The out-fit is manufactured by the Imperial Brass Manufactur-ing Company, Chicago, for general use not only in rail-way repair shops but also for yard and track work, andis furnished complete with torches, portable tanks, reg-ulators, hose, goggles, welding
