In 1882 lie was elected City Clerk of Leadville, and m February,1883, was appointed postmaster of that city. Mr. Davis is a memberof the Inter-state Deep Harbor Committee, in which capacity he dis-plays his usual energy and interest. Leadville has been Mr. Davis home for the past ten years; hisgreat interests demanding his closest attention; and although his homeis at an altitude of about 10,000 feet, it is a rare one, supplied withevery creature comfort, presided over by a congenial wife, who makesthe few hours of the day which Mr. Davis may call his own, sopleasant that the cares of business have borne very lightly upon Governor of Colorado.
