In 17S1 and 1780was a member of the Connecticut legis-lature. In 1783 he was a settled ministerat Greenfield and principal of an academythere; and from 1795 until his death waspresident of Yale College. He publishedTravels in Xcw England and New York,in 4 volumes. He died in New Haven,Conn., Jan. 11, 1817. Dyer, David P.\tterson, lawyer; bornin Henry county, Feb. 12, 1838; re-moved to Missouri in 1841; educated atSt. Charles College; admitted to the barin 1859, and practised till 1875. He wasa member of Congress in 1869-71; ap-pointed United States attorney in 1875;removed to St. Louis; prosecuted thegreat Whisky Ring in 1875-7
