Salmon begin to runinto fresh water early in June, or so soon as theSpring freshets are over; and then they showtheir greatest life and voracity. From that timeon to the middle of July, they are most activeaud rise most readily to any object which attractstheir attention. After that — when they havebeen a month or more in fresh water — theybecome somewhat sluggish and less disposed torise.
