A glaive of the Trabant Lifeguard of Austrian Emperor Charles VI, Typical wrought iron rib blade, the spine signed "Du Manufacturier J:(ohann) Phil:(ipp) Kirschbaum a Sohlingen" and numbered "39". Both sides etched and gilt with the crowned double-headed Habsburg eagle, the lower edge and upper sleeve section gilt. Length cm. Rare. Around 1730/40, Kirschbaum provided glaives to the court of emperor Charles VI (ruled 1711-40).
