Canary Islands Raven, Corvus corax jordansi (syn. C. c. tingitanus), Corvidae. Canary Island Ravens (samples from Fuerteventura and Lanzarote) are morphologically and genetically distinct from other Old World ravens (apparently having diverged c. 650,000 years ago). Corvus corax jordansi, the subspecies of raven that occurs on the Canary Islands, is slightly smaller than the nominate race and has shorter throat hackles.
