STRAIT OF MESSINA (Dec. 30, 2016) - Quartermaster Seaman Austin Valenzuela uses a polaris aboard USS Donald Cook (DDG 75) as the ship transits the Strait of Messina, Dec. 30, 2016. Donald Cook, an Arleigh-Burke class guided-missile destroyer, forward-deployed to Rota, Spain, is conducting naval operations in the 6th Fleet area of operations in support of national security interests in Europe and Africa.
