Pluto, Charon and Candidate Moons

This illustration shows the Pluto system from the surface of one of the candidate moons. Pluto is the large brown disk at center, right. Charon discovered in late 2005, the system's only confirmed moon, is the smaller disk to the right of Pluto. The other moon is the bright dot on Pluto's far left. The moons were discovered through observations with the ACS instrument on the Hubble Space Telescope.
