A German war chest, 2nd half of the 17th century. Heavy riveted iron body reinforced with bands and with two side mounted movable handles. There are two hasps on the front with a decoratively forged fake lock. There is a separate closeable keyhole cover in the lid with the original key. The lock has five moving bolts and an openwork screw-mounted cover plate. Interior lead painting with a separate lockable drawer and a support bar on the side.
