A nomadic Khampa girl wearing conch shells in her hair, in eastern Tibet. Conch shells are considered one of the most auspicious symbols in Tibetan Buddhism, as a sign of beauty and disattachment to hate and adversion. Big conch shells, ornate with silver and semi precious stones, are highly prized and blown to symbolise the power of Buddha's teachings. Nomadic Khampas, ethnically Tibet, are devout Buddhists.
