As there is sometimes a little con- fusion as to the difiference between nar- cissi and daffodils it will be in order to explain that all of the trumpet types of narcissi, of which there are three main groups, are known as "; The first group is the large trumpet type. The narcissus poeticus crossed with the large trumpet daffodils has given us the hybrids, such as the "chalice cupped" or star shaped daffodils, the Incompara- bilis, Barrii and Leedsii types. These are of the second group, distinguished by the length of the cup, which is from a third to three-fourths the length of the perianth or petals. The third group has the cup less than one-fourth the length of the perianth—the best known examples being the poeticus types.
