A 1914 sketch map of the town of Peiraeus or Pirias (Piraeus) and Athens Harbour as it was at that time. The Franks gave it the name "Porto Draco" and was known by the Turks as "Asian Port". Piraeus today it is the main port of Athens, the biggest port in Greece, It was ancienty known as Porto Leone, a name coming from the enormous stone lion, which guarded the port's entrance. The lion lion was stolen in 1688, during Fr. Morozini's expedition against Athens, and taken to Venice where it can still be seen.
