On either side a range of mountains fol-lows the wide valley, and at intervals on themain line one can catch glimpses of theGreen Mountains in Vermont, 30 miles or 40miles distant, while on the Saratoga division,and approaching the northern terminus, maybe seen the forest-covered peaks of the Adi-rondacks. The Saratoga division passes inclose proximity to Mount McGregor, famous as a mountainhealth resort, and as the spot where President U. S. Grantbreathed his last. Lake George, near the northern terminus,has been described by many writers as the most beautiful lake. CONGRESS PARK in America. Traditionsays that this was the northern point reached by Henry Hud-son, when, in 1610, the Half Moon crept up the Hudson.
