Sow as early in the spring as the weather willadmit in drills 18 inches apart and ^ inch deep, in a rich, deepsoil; thin out 3 to 6 inches apart in the rows. The quality ofthe roots is improved by leaving them in the ground over winterfor spring use. Secure enough in pits or cellars in the fall forimmediate Sugar, or Hollow Crown.
