It shows the number 18 dam which was being used by the Germans to flood the town of St. Hilaire during World War One. However, due to the swift advance of American troops, the Germans were unable to complete the flooding. The town of St. Hilaire is located in the Troyon Sur Meuse sector, southeast of Verdun in Meuse, France.
