. Florists' review [microform]. Floriculture. 118 The Florists'" Review JuNB 8. 1922 PROVIDENCE, R. I. The Market. Memorial day added another bumper occasion to the already unusually good season for the florists, and everyone is ready for the summer respite, well satis- fied with the general conditions. There is a continued good demand, on account of a large number of weddings, but the end of the season is rapidly approach- ing. Notwithstanding the addition of three or four new retailers in the down- town section, it is conceded that the season now closing has been the best in several years. Profiting from experiences of this sea- son, it is believed that there will be more cooperative spirit on the part of the dealers tow one another and a more united, aggressive attitude toward the public in the future. There are also indications of a growing sentiment against price inflation and in favor of a closer margin of profit, whereby the public may be educated into a more gen- eral use of flowers in the homes. Horticultural Show. The June exhibition of the Rhode Island Horticultural Society will be held June 23 in the ballroom of the Narragansett hotel. Many contestants are expected to enter plants and flow- ers in the first show of the season, as the premium lists for this as well as the other shows of the year are the largest ever offered by the society. Flowers and plants that are not claimed by con- testants will be sent to the hospitals. Other shows and exhibitions will be held at the state armory, on Cranston street, September 14 and 15 and No- vember 17 to 20. The latter will be held in conjunction with other societies. The exhibition committee consists of Cornelius Hartstra, of Providence, chairman; Arthur Sellew, of Provi- dence; Alexander Macrae, of Provi- dence; Stuart Pratt, of Longmeadow, and John Marshal, of North Providence.
