Although not part of the original castle and grounds, the gatehouse and lodge were added by its 19th century owner John Jervis Tollemache (the 1st Baron Tollemache). Managed by English Heritage, the 13th century Beeston Castle is a Grade I listed Scheduled Ancient Monument and former Royal castle.
