At Deep Bottom, Va.,August 14, 1864, I took partin a charge after being ex-cused from duty on accountof sickness, and was shotthrough the right lung whilein advance of my Gettysburg I was shot inthe head and hand while carrying the flag at the time of Picketts charge, and the dayprevious was shot in the side in a charge made by the regiment.
