Fibonacci sequence equation. This equation calculates numbers in the Fibonacci sequence (Fn) by adding together the previous number in the series (Fn-1) with the number previous to that (Fn-2). The sequence runs as follows 1,1,2,3,5,8,13,21, so on. The Italian mathematician Leonardo Pisano Bigollo, also known as Fibonacci, introduced the sequence in 1202 with his book Liber Abaci. Fibonacci numbers are used in computing but are more commonly observed in nature. The arrangement of leaves on a plant stem for example follow the Fibonacci sequence.
